BUILDING AFRICA TOGETHER

Executive Commentary

For 14 years, Dhahabu Consulting has had the privilege of contributing to infrastructure, mining, energy, and development projects across Southern Africa.

The name “Dhahabu,” meaning “gold” in Swahili, reflects our long-standing belief in Africa as a continent rich in opportunity, talent, resources, and shared prosperity. This vision continues to guide our work as we contribute toward sustainable development and industrial growth across the continent.

In line with this commitment, our subsidiary, Dhahabu Mining & Equipment, has recently secured a 51% majority stake in a gold mining operation a strategic milestone that strengthens our participation within Africa’s mining and industrial development sectors.

Throughout our journey, we have had the honour of working alongside exceptional professionals from across the African continent, including engineers, quantity surveyors, project managers, planners, technicians, consultants, and industry specialists whose expertise continues to shape the future of Africa’s built environment.

As South Africans, we must acknowledge that many African professionals have contributed significantly toward building the infrastructure, institutions, universities, mining sector, energy systems, and economic foundations that continue to support our country today.

Likewise, South African professionals continue to play an important role across the continent in infrastructure delivery, mining, engineering, energy transition, transport, governance, and industrial development.

Africa’s progress has never been achieved in isolation.

Our economies, infrastructure systems, labour markets, and long-term prosperity remain interconnected. This reality is further reinforced through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), regional cooperation frameworks, and global development objectives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), all of which recognise infrastructure, industrialisation, skills mobility, and collaboration as essential drivers of Africa’s future growth.

At Dhahabu Consulting, we firmly believe that:

  • The rule of law must always be respected;
  • Immigration and professional regulation must remain lawful, structured, and properly governed;
  • Local capacity development and skills transfer remain critical to sustainable growth; and
  • The economic frustrations facing South Africans must never be ignored.

However, we equally believe that xenophobia, violence, intimidation, hatred, and division cannot become the foundation upon which Africa seeks to resolve its challenges.

The infrastructure and mining sectors require stability, collaboration, institutional maturity, skills development, investment confidence, and long-term leadership.

As Africans, we must continue building responsibly, lawfully, and together.

Africa’s future will not be built through division.
It will be built through leadership, professionalism, cooperation, infrastructure, and shared prosperity.
