Dhahabu Consulting’s Pledge: Standing Against GBV During the 16 Days of Activism

Every year, from 25 November to 10 December, South Africa unites for the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children. This is more than just a campaign; it is a critical time for national reflection and personal commitment.

At Dhahabu Consulting, we recognize that to lead in innovation and community impact, we must first champion safety and dignity for all.Gender-Based Violence (GBV) remains a devastating crisis in South Africa, impacting lives, futures, and the very fabric of our communities. We believe meaningful, lasting change starts within our walls.

Our Unwavering Commitment

As a company rooted in leadership and accountability, Dhahabu Consulting is dedicated to transforming dialogue into definitive action. During these 16 days and all year long we reaffirm our pledge to combat GBV through four core pillars:

1. Fostering a Zero-Tolerance Work Environment

We are committed to maintaining a culture where every employee feels respected, protected, and empowered. Our workplace safety encompasses physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. Harassment and violence, in any form, are non-negotiable grounds for disciplinary action.

2. Driving Proactive Awareness and Education

Understanding the insidious nature of GBV is the first step toward prevention. We will utilise internal channels to provide our team with:

  • Essential Resources: Information on recognising the signs of abuse.
  • Critical Training: Guidance on how to safely intervene and support survivors.
  • Open Dialogue: Creating space for difficult, yet necessary, conversations.

3. Strengthening Community Impact through Dhahabu Cares

Our commitment extends beyond our offices. Through the Dhahabu Cares initiative, we will actively align ourselves with and provide resources to grassroots organisations that are on the front lines, offering support, shelter, and empowerment to vulnerable women and children.

4. Upholding Collective Responsibility and Accountability

Ending GBV is not the burden of the victim; it is the shared responsibility of society. Dhahabu Consulting expects all leaders and colleagues to:

  • Speak Out: Challenge harmful attitudes, jokes, and behaviours.
  • Support Survivors: Offer compassion and access to professional resources.
  • Be a Safe Ally: Actively contribute to a supportive network.

Your Call to Action: Be the Change

To every member of the Dhahabu family and our wider network: Silence is complicity. We urge you to use these 16 days as an urgent reminder of the role you can play.

  • Reflect: Examine your own biases and behaviours.
  • Educate: Learn about resources and support structures.
  • Act: Offer a helping hand, break the silence, or volunteer your time.

Let us transition from merely observing the 16 Days of Activism to actively living the commitment every day. Together, through sustained compassion and unified action, we can build a South Africa where dignity and safety are a guaranteed reality for every man, woman and child.
